Worship Director

St Andrew's is an evangelical church within the the Church of England that longs to see lives transformed by Jesus. We have a strong tradition both of contemporary and traditional worship, with an emphasis on growing young people as band leaders and members – drawing people from within and outside of Oxford. 

At this time in the life of the church, whilst not wishing to lose our more traditional style in particular services, we want to lean in more to contemporary worship, giving space for the leading, empowering and transformation of the Holy Spirit – as this is where we are seeing most growth.

The Worship Director will oversee and coordinate all aspects of sung worship within St Andrew’s Sunday and midweek gatherings, ensuring that worship is conducted with excellence, spiritual depth, and alignment with the mission and values of the church – so people are drawn into Christ’s transforming presence and are changed by the power of His Spirit.

The role is broad and varied - and there is a great team of over 100 people who are involved this ministry in some way.  The role holder will need to welcome the intergenerational nature of the church, and foster the role of music in prayer, worship and mission, helping God’s people to encounter Him.   

We are looking for someone who:

• is passionate about seeing lives transformed by Christ empowered by God’s Spirit and able to lead others in worship of Him as we serve and work toward His coming kingdom;
• a worshipper whose heart to share the Gospel reflects the generosity of the God we serve;
• has a passion to raise up and empower a new generation of worship leaders, who releases gifts and skills in others, with experience of leading worship across a variety of ages in an evangelical setting;
• possesses strong communication skills as they sustain, build, encourage and nurture the various teams involved in worship ministry across the church.
