Verger

We have an exciting opportunity for a Verger to join our team.  

Our Vergers are at the heart of the Cathedral’s life and their role is highly valued.  We are looking for someone with strong pastoral instincts, an eye for detail, physically fit because this role is physically demanding,  together with a calm authority, a sense of reverence and dignity. 

You will also need to be a practising Christian and communicant member in the Church of England and to undertake a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure Barring Services check.

It's a permanent full-time role, working 40 hours per week over 5 days with two days off each week but with regular evenings and weekend working.  The annual salary is £27,260 and benefits include: free on-site parking, the equivalent of 6.8 weeks leave, a 6% employer pension contribution, access to our Employee Assistance Programme and 10% discount in the Cathedral shop.  There is also the requirement to be available to be on-call on a regular basis for which there is additional remuneration.
