We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Children’s and Youth Worker to play a key role with our established children’s work team at Broxbourne, building on and expanding our existing work with young people. This position is important for the spiritual development of children and youth, supporting their faith journeys and fostering a welcoming, inclusive environment for all families.
Our welcoming pastorate comprises Broxbourne and Hertford United Reformed Churches and Cheshunt Free Church. The Children’s and Youth Worker will focus on carrying out their role at Broxbourne URC, while gradually developing a model that the other two churches could adapt in their future work with children and youth, producing materials and lesson plans that could be shared with the rest of the pastorate.
Key Responsibilities:
We would welcome your ideas and your contribution to shaping the schedule and activities for our children’s and youth work provision. We currently have in attendance up to 6 children, ranging in age from 9-13.
Responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the existing team of volunteer leaders in planning and delivering age-appropriate sessions and other children’s activities, ensuring they are Bible-based, engaging, and relevant.
- Leading Junior Church on some Sunday mornings as required and appropriate. We look to develop the time commitment and structure with the successful applicant.
- Responding to the diverse needs and interests of children and young people, ensuring that they feel valued and included in the life of the church.
As well as Junior Church on Sunday mornings, there is scope for setting up an evening youth group or schools outreach work and/or some holiday activities. We would like to discuss the possibilities with you. Please see more details in the attached Advertisement and Job Description.
