Overall Job Purpose:

The Centre Manager is responsible for the overall operational management and smooth running of The Purley Chase Centre, ensuring a welcoming, safe, and efficient environment for all guests, visitors, and staff. This role is crucial in upholding the centre’s mission and values, managing daily activities, overseeing staff, and maintaining the facilities to a high standard.

Operational Management:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the centre, ensuring all services and activities run efficiently.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor operational procedures and policies to enhance effectiveness and guest satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, licensing requirements (e.g., Bar License), and organisational policies, including rigorous safeguarding protocols.
  • Manage booking processes ensuring accurate guest information, payment tracking, and room allocation.
  • Oversee any related financial processes, ensuring accurate record-keeping and communication with the Company Secretary and Company Accountant

Staff Leadership & Management:

  • Lead, motivate, and manage a diverse team of staff.
  • Oversee recruitment (in conjunction with HR/Conference Council) for centre staff, including determining replacement requirements for key roles.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings, performance reviews, and identify training and development needs.
  • Ensure effective communication and information flow within the centre team.
  • Manage staff rotas and holiday scheduling to ensure adequate cover.

Financial Management (in liaison with the Company Accountant)

  • Manage the day-to-day financial operations of the centre, including monitoring budgets, controlling expenditure, and processing invoices.
  • Oversee procurement processes for supplies and services, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
  • Authorise and approve payments
  • Ensure accurate recording of payments, including increasing card payments.
  • Collaborate with the Company Accountant on financial reporting and reconciliation.
  • Data collection for audit purposes.

Guest & Visitor Experience:

  • Foster a welcoming, friendly, supportive, and peaceful environment for all guests and visitors.
  • Address guest feedback and resolve issues promptly and professionally.
  • Implement and enforce safeguarding policies regarding guest room allocation and non-resident access to private areas.
  • Provide a lovely setting for people to explore our New Church Teachings, revealed through Emanuel Swedenborg

Safeguarding:

  • Act as a key safeguarding lead and contact at the Purley Chase Centre to ensure all safeguarding policies and procedures are rigorously followed by all staff and visitors.
  • Ensure safeguarding contact information is current and accessible.

Strategic & Collaborative Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the strategic planning and development of the centre, including providing reports to the Purley Management Team
  • Work with the Marketing Coordinator to support promotional activities for events and services (Cream Teas/Events, social media).
  • Maintain necessary licenses for the Centre
