Ministry Assistant

Christ Church W4

MINISTRY ASSISTANT - JOINING CHRIST CHURCH W4'S MINISTRY ACCELERATOR SCHEME

Here at Christ Church W4, we are looking for men and women, excited by our vision and values and ready to commit one or two years to serving God’s church in West London.

If you are someone who loves God’s Word, wants to learn to minister in the power of His Spirit and are looking to put Jesus centre-stage in your life, this could be just the opportunity for you.

While we welcome applications from a wide range of candidates, this position is most suited to those who are already growing in their Christian life and leadership. You may be a university graduate with experience of Christian leadership or have completed a ministry development course such as New Wine Discipleship Year or Cornhill. We are looking for individuals who are keen to learn, and willing to serve across a broad range of church activities whilst also having the opportunity to specialise in key ministry areas such as worship, youth, operations, comms, young adults, seniors etc. This is excellent preparation ground for those considering ordained ministry (two-year track) or taking up other senior roles on a staff team.

Who we are:

Christ Church W4 is a dynamic church in West London with a track record of seeing God accelerate young adults in ministry.

We are looking for up to 3 passionate young adults to play a key role in the life of the church while they grow, serve and minister.

Christ Church staff members attend the New Wine Leaders’ Conference and have multiple training opportunities throughout the year. They are part of a team big enough to thrive in, but not so large that they feel lost within it. Ministry Assistants will have genuine opportunities to make a difference across all areas of church life.

What will the role involve:

You will be a full member of the staff team at Christ Church W4 and experience first-hand the rhythms, joys, and challenges of full-time Christian ministry. Your time with us will be tailored to you as an individual. It will be a mixture of internal and external training, serving the wider church and community and growing as a minister and leader in your own right. So, while there will be some tasks on your timetable that are primarily about serving the missional needs of the church, other tasks will focus on your particular areas of interest. You will be supported, stretched, and challenged to try a whole range of ministerial tasks (whether that’s preaching, working on the website, song writing, leading a youth weekend away.) You will also be able to shadow those in roles you might want to grow into in the future.

Training:

While we see this is as a step on from discipleship year roles, we are keen to find the right training routes to tailor your ministry accelerator scheme to your needs and interests.

All ministry assistants are encouraged to be proactive in outlining their own training needs, and their plan for spiritual growth. We appoint a line manager and encourage appointment of a mentor to complement in-house and external training.

For those exploring ordination we work with the Kensington Area of the Diocese of London to equip, inform and facilitate the support of an Area Director of Ordinands (usually from the January of the first year onwards.)

A note on accommodation

Accommodation is not included but there may be the possibility of lodging with a member of the church family.

In the words of a former ministry assistant.....

I loved being a part of the team at CCW4 - they massively invested in me as a person and as a Christian leader, through mentoring and leadership opportunities. Over two years, I was given the opportunity to explore my calling and develop my gifts and skills - I was encouraged and challenged to develop my preaching and was given amazing opportunities to grow as a worship leader, as well as running a toddler group. Nearly 10 years later I still rely daily on lessons I learnt at CCW4 as I serve as part of the team at St Aldates in Oxford. Tom
