Main Purpose of the Role
Bridge Community Church is a large, multicultural Pentecostal church based in the heart of Leeds, with a weekly congregation of over 1,200 people and a thriving children’s ministry. We’re looking for a passionate and organised KS2 Children’s Leader to oversee and lead our ministry for children aged 8–11 during our Sunday morning services. This is a part-time role (20 hours per week) ideal for someone with experience working with children in a church context who feels called to discipleship and has a heart to see children grow in their faith. You’ll lead a team of volunteers, plan weekly Bible-based sessions, support families, and contribute to wider 0–18s ministry events and planning. You’ll be joining a friendly, committed team, making a real impact in the lives of young people and their families. Key Responsibilities

Lead and be present in the KS2 department for at least 3 Sundays a month

Plan, prepare, and deliver weekly Bible-based teaching and activities for KS2 children

Build strong relationships with children and their families

Coordinate a core volunteer team: organise rotas, communicate with teams, encourage and support

Maintain safeguarding standards and ensure all volunteers are trained appropriately

Manage records for KS2 children and teams using the ChurchSuite database

Contribute to wider events (e.g. family fun days, residentials, Holiday Bible Club, Messy Church)

Partner with the KS1 leader and KS3 youth leader to ensure smooth transitions and continuity

Ensure rooms and equipment are safe, resourced, and ready for use

Participate in the Children & Youth Ministry Leadership Team and weekly staff meetings

Assist with recruitment, training, and leadership development of volunteers

Help create a culture of fun, safety, and discipleship across all KS2 environments
Person Specification
Essential:

A strong and active Christian faith
-
Experience working with children aged 8–11

Excellent communication and organisation skills

A heart for children’s discipleship and Christian teaching

Ability to plan and lead Bible sessions in creative, age-appropriate ways

Strong team leadership and interpersonal skills

Flexibility to work Sundays and occasional out-of-hours events
Desirable:

Theological or ministry training

Experience in a multicultural church setting

Familiarity with safeguarding and volunteer management

Computer literacy (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, ChurchSuite or equivalent database systems)
