Elder for Mission and Community

Birchwood Community Church (an independent Evangelical Church) is seeking a full-time Elder (Mission Director) to lead our mission and outreach work. We are a multicultural, growing church with a strong sense of family and a clear vision: to see Jesus changing lives in our church and our wider community.

We’re blessed with a vibrant programme of community activities and a team of dedicated staff and volunteers. But we believe there’s more to come — and we’re praying for someone who will help us develop and grow our mission to build God’s Kingdom in Birchwood.

What you'll do

• Lead our mission and outreach strategy, championing evangelism and discipleship across the church and community.
• Play an active role in church leadership as part of a small eldership team (note: we don’t have a formal pastor role at this time).
• Oversee and develop the church’s community facility, The Encounter Centre.
• Grow existing partnerships with local churches, schools, and organisations.
• Inspire and equip others for mission through training, events, and discipleship programmes.
• Help shape church vision and direction alongside fellow elders and deacons.

Who you are

• A committed Christian with a passion for community outreach and sharing the gospel.
• Experienced in church leadership, mission, or community work.
• A servant-hearted leader who can inspire, organise, and support others.
• A team player with strong relational, communication, and project management skills.
• Worship-leading or musical gifts are a bonus, but not essential.
