Job Title: Children & Youth Ministry Leader

Salary: Range £13,000 - £15,000 per annum and a 4-bedroom house, including payment of Council Tax, water rates and internet charge.

Contract: 3 Years fixed term in the first instance

Location: Beacon Church, 317 Sandon Road, Stafford, ST16 3HW

Accountable to: Pastor

Working Hours: 20 hours per week

Closing Date: Friday 8th August 2025

 

The Role

Goals:

Families are drawn to join any of Beacon’s microchurches or mission activities because there is a quality offering for children and young people.

Children and young people are growing in their faith/come to faith as a result of belonging to groups where they find acceptance and love, and are taught Christian values and truths at a level that matches their age and learning style.

Key tasks:

To lead the children’s and youth ministry of Beacon Church both inside and outside the church aligned with our vision and values.

Within our scattered approach to church the children and youth worker would work across all of our microchurches and missions to help facilitate and empower greater discipleship of the children and young people inside and outside the church.

This person would oversee training and developing ministry volunteers, lead and/or support missional groups such as: Ignite Youth Group, Ignite Junior, First Fridays, Messy Church, Stay & Play, Holiday Club, as well as the possibility of summer youth camps or mission trips. Some of these groups will be led out of the Marston Grange Beacon Church House to further our relationships on that estate. Other groups may be organised within the church building on Sandon Road to further the relationships and mission to the estate where the church is located. This person would seek to build relationships with families, particularly seeking to strengthen ties with families not yet a part of the church.

This person would also provide updated curriculum for children’s church across our services and other Bible study type materials as needed for various groups.

This person would work with the leaders of our microchurch teams or other ministry teams to provide support, content, ideas and further development of mission and discipleship to children and young people.

Person Specification

Qualifications/Training:

A minimum of 5 GCSE passes to include English and Maths

DBS Required

Safeguarding training - We can provide if not already acquired

Children/Youth qualification or willingness to qualify - For the right candidate, who is perhaps exploring a first role, the opportunity for further training is possible

Skills:

Ability to communicate effectively in writing and in person at age appropriate levels Fluent in the use of MS Office, social media and managing emails

Ability to self-manage and be self-motivated with organisational skills

Ability to train/disciple children’s/youth ministry volunteers

Good inter-personal skills, ability to establish a rapport with a diverse range of people

Ability to write/prepare age appropriate Bible lessons/study material

Experience:

Previous experience working with children and/or young people and their families Experience working in or attending a scattered model of church (microchurch, missional community, new housing estates, etc) would be desirable but not essential
