About the Role

We are looking to fill a FULL TIME RESIDENTIAL POSITION, as soon as possible, with either a couple or single person. The accommodation is in a private studio flat located on-site. Emergency night phone cover/fire alarm make the role necessary for residential option only - this is on a rota basis with the resident hotel manager.

Primarily we are looking for someone who is happy working in any area of the hotel, as the business requires, but a passion for preparing vegetables, plating the highly acclaimed fabulous meals, keeping the kitchen clean and a love of washing up would be fantastic. Other roles can include:

  • Evening duty management
  • Housekeeping
  • Gardening
  • Light maintenance
  • Welcoming the guests

We are a hands-on team, most staff have been employed for over 6+ years. Our guests visit several times a year, its like their second home. We pride ourselves on giving 5* service, exceeding the guests expectations and work in a relaxed friendly atmosphere. The church weekend groups book from one year to the next and we offer a wide variety of themed Christian holidays throughout the year.

This is a salaried, permanent, full time position. Thornleigh is open all year round and operates 7 days a week. You would work a 40 hour week over 5 days annualised. If a couple, flexible arrangements can be made to split the hours to 25 hours each or whatever mutually suits. The accommodation will be offset at the current government rate, and will include council tax, TV licence, WiFi and all utilities. Food is provided when on duty. Laundry facilities, a car parking space, a small garden and some storage is available. A current right to work in the UK will be needed. Double Covid-19 vaccination would be requested. Positive recent references will be essential.

Previous experience of working in Christian Hospitality would be preferred but training will be given including First Aid, Food Hygiene and Fire Warden. A happy disposition, eye for detail, hard-working, organised, kind, warm and a willingness to help attitude are the main attributes we are looking for. 

Thornleigh is owned by a Christian Charity, Highway Trust Ltd, the hotel is located in the heart of Grange-over-Sands, near to all the local amenities, train station and bus stops. Kendal is the nearest town. The train is a direct line from Manchester to Barrow-in-Furness. By car Grange-over-Sands is twenty minutes away from Windermere, and twenty minutes to junction 36 of the M6.
