Youth & Children’s Worker
The focus of this role is to lead our children’s and youth work, developing our 5-11 and 11-18 strategy as we aim to grow the Kingdom among young people in our community and church family.
We are looking for an engaging, energetic, passionate, creative, pastoral, self-motivated leader who has a heart to see young people and children transformed by Christ, in the power of the Holy Spirit, and equipped to serve him in growing the Kingdom. St Mark’s is an evangelical Anglican parish church which serves the community in the north of Horsham, West Sussex. Within our parish we have two primary schools where we already have strong links; within two miles there are four secondary schools and a large sixth form college. We currently have an established range of Sunday morning children’s groups and a small youth group.
This is an exciting time to join our team and church family as we seek to reach out more extensively to families and young people in our community at a time when north Horsham is undergoing a major housing expansion. You will be responsible for leading our children’s and (particularly) our youth work, nurturing our team of volunteers and planning and developing ministries to assist in the work. This is a part-time post with scope to expand significantly, with a flexible working week (25 hours per week) which will include some daytime, evening and weekend hours, with at least one full day off each week.
If you would like to know more and have an informal conversation with our Vicar, Richard Coldicott, please do contact him on 01403 260435 or email him at email@example.com by Tuesday 21 July. The person appointed must be in sympathy with, and clearly committed to, the church and its vision and be actively involved in it beyond this position. There is an occupational requirement that the post holder is a committed Christian in accordance with Part 1 of Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010. The post is subject to an enhanced DBS check, pre-employment references and a 6 month probationary period.
CLOSING DATE – 2359 HRS ON FRIDAY 31 JULY 2020; INTERVIEWS WILL BE HELD IN EARLY SEPTEMBER.
