Who We Are
The Oasis Centre is a Christian charity that aims to bring about lasting positive change in the lives of some of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged adults in Gorton, East Manchester. It was established in 2001 and became a charitable trust in 2006. www.oasisgorton.org
The Oasis Centre works directly with a broad cross-section of marginalised and ‘hard to reach’ adults in one of the most deprived communities in Britain. The Centre is a lifeline for well over 100 people a week including families living on benefits, long-term unemployed, asylum seekers and refugees, homeless people, ex-offenders and those struggling with social isolation, alcohol and drug problems or mental illness. Since 2001 over 7000 individuals and approximately 3000 families in Gorton and East Manchester have benefited from our services. We act as a vital ‘first rung on the ladder’ for the most disadvantaged and a route into mainstream services which many are unable to access owing both to distrust of statutory providers and a deficit in the basic life-skills required to successfully navigate these services. We also address both their immediate needs and the, often complex issues, behind these needs and we provide holistic support to meet their physical, social and economic needs in one easily accessible location.

Where Were Going
Our vision for the future is to end the cycle of deprivation and see our East Manchester communities reach their God given potential through the provision of a prominent new purpose-built centre in which those with multiple and severe needs can enjoy holistic support in one easy to access safe place. We are due to take ownership and move into this facility in January 2020.
How You Play Your Part
The Centre Operations Manager will hold full operational leadership over all areas of our organisation. Reporting directly into the Charity Director and with regular guidance and support from the founder and CEO the Centre Operations Manager will lead, design and deploy exceptional operational strategies that will allow colleagues, clients and the community of Oasis to flourish into all it has been designed for. This position also has significant future growth potential that could see you holding greater strategic responsibilities.
There are four aspects of the role that any potential applicant simply must have:
1) The ability to ensure that everyone within and connected to the organisation is treated equally including staff, volunteers and clients, and that absolutely no favouritism is shown.
2) Be able to demonstrate the ability to conduct your endeavours in a friendly and welcoming manner showing natural love, care and compassion to everyone.
3) Under the Equalities Act 2010, Schedule 9 there is a Genuine Occupational Requirement (GOR) that you will have your own personal and practising faith in Jesus Christ and demonstrate the ability to lead your colleagues into both professional and spiritual growth.
4) Experience of serving, supporting and providing exceptional leadership to both salaried and volunteer colleagues within an operational leadership capacity.
This Centre Operations Manager is a fantastic missional opportunity that will see you holding significant responsibilities across areas such as budget and policy management, recruitment, training, mentorship, fundraising, public relations as well as bringing operational efficiencies to all aspects of the organisation. It is also a truly 'customer-facing' position and it is expected that you will be able to represent the Oasis Centre publicly to a wide range of audiences as well as build excellent relations with government, local authorities, local residents, the voluntary sector and other relevant agencies.
