Empowerment Worker

About the role

We are looking for a self motivated, passionate, caring individual to play a major role in this new exciting project in Epsom.

The project has just purchased its first house and is making it ready and welcoming for our first tenants.

As the Empowerment Worker you will be supporting our tenants who have been homeless. Tenants will be single males with support needs and you will be the key person that empowers them towards a fulfilled life.

You will be working with enthusiastic individuals from our partner churches who have volunteered to befriend and support our tenants by giving love and practical support to them.

Please note that this role is for 10 hours per week.

About you

For this role, you would be someone with a passion for the homeless and our values, who is able to work with church leaders and church members. You will need to be able to work with tenants with support needs, including poor mental health, past offending, and drug and alcohol dependency issues. We value good listening skills. The ability to work in a flexible team and learn new skills is important as we foster working within a strong supportive team.

We love diversity and we value your difference, your unique skills, knowledge and experience. Becoming one of our team may realise your potential, helping us to raise our performance in empowering the diverse tenants that we serve.

About us

We will be providing a home with support for people who are homeless for a variety of reasons, including single people. They may be people recovering from drug and / or alcohol addiction, people who have been in prison and/or refugees.

We work in partnership with a variety of Christian churches in Epsom to provide homes with support to help some of the most vulnerable people in the town to rebuild their lives.

Our partner church, Epsom Methodist church, will provide supportive friendship, investment, prayer and a caring community for our tenants.

Hope into Action Epsom manage the referral process, the tenancy and house maintenance, and provide ongoing professional support to empower our tenants to make long lasting changes in their lives and ultimately to move on into longer term accommodation.

We have a vision of many churches in Epsom lovingly making a home for those without a home.
