About Us

Based in our beautiful rural location within Dartmoor National Park, we are a Christian charity who specialises in providing young people with outdoor adventure experiences and opportunities to learn more about the Christian faith. We are a dedicated and supportive team who have a real passion for seeing young people thrive in the outdoors and reach their potential whilst developing their connection with the natural world.

About the Role

We currently have vacancies for Seasonal Outdoor Education Instructors for the 2022 season. Working with our friendly and experienced instructor team you will deliver outdoor adventure activity sessions to groups of all ages and abilities. We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic individuals who ideally have experience in a range of adventurous activities (though not essential). This is an exciting time to join the team as we look ahead to introducing a new style activity programme for 2022.

Main Responsibilities

  • Working in all aspects of Outdoor Education at Heatree Activity Centre
  • Ensuring the production and delivery of exciting and inspiring activity sessions
  • Reporting to and supporting the Outdoor Education Manager
  • Working within a committed team in a Christian environment
  • Actively participating in the Christian ministry of the Centre
  • Supporting other areas of the Centre where appropriate

Person Specification

  • Experience in delivering outdoor activities (desirable not essential)
  • Experience in working with children and young people (desirable not essential)
  • Ideally holds a qualification in climbing, walking leadership or paddlesport (e.g. CWA, RCI, LOLA, UKCC Level 1 Paddlesport) - desirable not essential
  • Strong initiative, reliable and punctual
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Have own transport due to rural location
  • Must be aged 18 years or over
  • As a Christian charity it is an occupational requirement that the candidate is a committed Christian and will be willing to participate in the Christian outreach of the Centre

Contract: February – November (seasonal) full time (Monday - Friday 8.30-4.30pm). Some evening and weekend work may be required.

Location: Heatree Activity Centre, Manaton, Devon, TQ13 9XE

Salary: £16,466 pro rata (£19,760 per annum)
