The Diocese of Durham is the Church of England from the River Tyne in the North; to the River Tees in the South; the Durham Dales in the West; and to the Sea in the East.
The mission of the Diocese of Durham is to bless our communities in Jesus’ name for the transformation of us all. This will be achieved by focusing our energies on three priorities: Children & Young People; Poverty and Church Growth.
We focus our energies on hubs of activity in support of our surrounding Diocesan Priorities which are Church Growth, Children & Young People and Poverty (Social Action) in order to ‘Bless Our Communities in Jesus’ name for the transformation of us all’.
About the Role
The Diocese of Durham is looking for an enthusiastic and inspirational Giving Advisor to join our Generous Giving Team as we support our parishes in continuing to build God’s Kingdom. The Giving Advisor’s primary focus will be on:
- Supporting financial giving in parishes
- Working with Parochial Church Councils and members of clergy to build a culture of generosity and to modernise methods of giving.
This will predominantly be an ‘out and about’ role, engaging with parishes face-to-face and building rapport, providing and developing parish resources and training, sharing good practice, and assisting with stewardship from both a theological and practical perspective. Developing this culture is an essential building block as we work towards the long term financial sustainability of our parishes and the diocese as a whole.
The successful applicant will be a practising Christian whose faith will provide the ideal foundation to be successful in this role. Please note that this is a genuine occupational requirement.
