Part-time Children's Worker
Caterham Community Church is based in north-east Surrey, about 8 miles south of Croydon. We are seeking to recruit a children's worker to replace the current occupant of that role.The person we are seeking will be passionate about teaching and inspiring children between the ages of 3 and 11 in the Christian faith. They will have good communication skills- both written and verbal- and will also be able to lead effectively a team of volunteers who would work with them. This aspect of the role will require some evening meetings.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate evidence of their ability to work well with children and be happy to work under the guidance of and being accountable to the pastor and elders.They will be required to apply for an enhanced DBS check and would normally be expected to be or become a member of our church. Being a committed Christian is a genuine occupational requirement of this position since the role requires modelling and expressing the Christian faith to children.
The successful applicant would be expected to work in this role three Sundays out of four in a typical month. Remuneration is £10.20 per hour and the role would normally require about 27 hours in a typical month. The position is an employed one with an annual pro rata holiday allowance and the opportunity to join a generous contributory pension scheme. Office facilities are available to assist in preparation and communication.
