Site Manager

Intro

Avant-Garde Construction is looking to recruit a Site Manager to oversee and work on residential extension projects across Sussex on a permanent basis.

This role would suit a candidate with leadership skills and experience in a similar role where they have earned the ability to take ownership of their day-to-day responsibilities, direct the work of others, and make quick decisions.

As the main point of reference of both workers and supervisors, you will be a key person for driving a project through to completion.

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 depending on experience; plus bonuses

Duties & Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director, your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Maintain, adhere to, and uphold the company’s values of Trust, Honesty, Authenticity, Respect and Integrity at all times
  • Monitor and enforce Health and Safety on sites at all times
  • Drive progress on all sites whilst working to set timeframes and work schedules
  • Manage all aspects of each building project including health and safety, workforce and workload allocation accordingly
  • Report to the Director on a daily basis
  • Ensure that all building works are carried out to current building regulations and to the company’s high standards
  • Resolve technical queries with contractors, suppliers, architects, structural engineers, and clients without conflict
  • Problem-solve issues quickly that arise on-site by using clear, concise problem-solving skills
  • Supervise the use of machinery and equipment
  • Monitor project expenditure and ensure it remains within budget
  • Able to see the bigger picture and think ahead regarding the building process, labour force/trade allocation, ordering of materials, and other aspects of the project
  • Ensure all sites are safe and clean at the end of each working day

To be successful as a Site Manager, you will possess the following:

  • A strong track record working in construction
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time
  • Be extremely process-driven, results-focused, and professional
  • Able to manage and motivate a team and deal with any on-site issues

Experience & Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in construction (essential)
  • Previous Site Manager experience with good references (preferable)
  • In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment, and H&S
  • Ability to read drawings and plans
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills
  • Ability to communicate and report effectively
  • Problem-solving abilities
  • Good physical health and stamina
  • CSCS
  • First aid (preferable)
  • Driving License (essential)
